Different Welding Methods

TIG Welding

Gas Welding

Fuel gases or liquid fuels and oxygen are used to weld or cut metals with gas welding. When the environment is not ideal, i.e. when in outdoor areas or windy areas, then gas welding is very useful. Heating is gas welding is slow and larger areas are affected and so the weld is not so strong and no so high in quality. You can use gas welding for welding thin materials or when doing simple repairs. The dilution of the base material is minimal.

Electron Beam Welding

A beam of high-velocity electrons is used to join materials with electron beam welding. There is an impartation of heat and energy when there is a collision between the electrons and the surface. This type of welding produces the highest quality weld and is exceptionally accurate. But training and equipment are hard to come by and very expensive. This type of welding should be used if your welding job needs extreme precision. Examples would be nuclear welds and spacecraft.

Plasma Arc Welding

Plasma arc welding is a type of welding similar to TIG except that you don’t separate the beam and gas envelope. Welding of tiny areas can be done with this type of welder. And concentration is required more for this type of welding than for others. The aircraft manufacturing industry uses this type of welding. Some benefits of this method includes its high rate of accuracy and its use in extreme temperatures. Deeper welds are created by this type of welding.

Another type of welding is the stick welding which is the most basic type of all. This method is useful for basic welding jobs.
